BMTS Technology to close Blaichach plant on 31st October 2021

BMTS Technology will close its component plant in Blaichach, Germany, on October 31st 2021. The closure was announced in May 2020 and aims to strengthen the company’s global structure and competitiveness.

Local employee respresentatives and the company agreed on a social plan which will provide support to all BMTS employees in Blaichach. The social plan includes training opportunities, prolonged employment in a transfer company, and severance payments.

However, BMTS will still be present in Blaichach, although in a different form. There will be a technology office for former Blaichach technical experts, as they will continue to provide expertise and support to BMTS production sites worldwide.

“The decision to close our plant in Blaichach was not an easy one. Our team has been performing dedicated work for many years. We are therefore aware of our responsibility towards our employees. Nevertheless, there is, unfortunately, no other option for us than to close the plant”, said Marco Esser, CHRO of BMTS Technology.

The plant in Blaichach began producing components for turbochargers in 2011. At that time, the company was still known as Bosch Mahle Turbosystems GmbH and was a joint venture between Bosch and MAHLE. In 2018, BMTS was sold to Hong Kong-based financial investor FountainVest Partners. The BMTS plant in Blaichach initially remained on the Bosch factory premises, which, however, limited the growth potential of BMTS Technology. Due to this and for economic reasons, the decision was made in 2020 to relocate component production to other international sites.
