On 16th November, the highly anticipated “China 2022 Powertrain Components Selection” were announced. BMTS Technology received the Gold Award for the new generation of 1.5T e-actuated turbocharger for hybrid engines.

This award was given based on an on-site exhibition and evaluation, organized by Auto Sports Magazine and the Institute of Automotive Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. An expert jury committee and technical consultant committee with 14 judges including senior R&D executives and professionals from Dongfeng, BYD, Geely, Changan, Chery, GAC, Great Wall, BAIC and other automotive enterprises had in-depth discussions and exchanges with the guests of participating enterprises at the evaluation site.

Furthermore, the 1.5l 4-cylinder BHE15 engine of Geely Emgrand equipped with a BMTS turbocharger won the “Ten Best Engines & Propulsion Systems of China 2022” Award.

The 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems Award of China is billed as among the three most recognized engine awards in the world, including “Ward Top 10 Engines” and “International Engine of the Year”.

“This hybrid dedicated turbocharger is based on the second-generation platform of BM60 and is developed multi-dimensionally, with high efficiency, wide flow range, high pressure ratio and other characteristics. It is focusing on reducing the friction losses and optimizing aerodynamics of the rotor system” said Gary Aori, Test & sample shop manager of BMTS Shanghai plant. “With the support of this all-new turbocharger, the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder BHE15 engine of Geely Emgrand can be up to 225Nm and the peak power reaches 110W, while achieving an engine thermal efficiency of 43.32%.”

Both awards are great recognition of BMTS’s leadership in modern turbocharging technologies. In the future, BMTS will continue to develop its technologies and products for increasing the efficiency of vehicles and offer solutions for various types of powertrains (including hybrid, electric, hydrogen), thus contributing to low-carbon mobility.
